We are currently looking for a senior-level Engineering Manager to join our dynamic management team and bring our professional-level Development and Engineering Department to the forefront of innovation. The ideal candidate will be an inspiring technical leader with a passion for products and a deep understanding of software development tools and processes. Strong candidates will have extensive experience with project and technical management and have proven leadership capabilities. This position will provide guidance to our experienced technical team to ensure delivery of best-in-class products in accordance with the product roadmap. The ideal candidate has potential to grow into a Director of Engineering role.

Responsibilities
• In collaboration with senior management, define technical and product strategy for the company and create a unified product-suite.
• Translate business problems into effective technical solutions by leading the Research and Development team and providing strong supporting research
• Monitor best practices, trends and new technologies and evaluate for possible adoption
• Provide direction and supervision to a global and intelligent team of Engineers:
• Gather project requirements
• Deliver technical design documentation
• Develop top quality products as defined by product roadmap
• Lead thorough testing of all products and features
• Recommend and effectively implement department specific procedures
• Ensure project goals are met within scheduling and budgeting parameters
• Lead and facilitate effective technical related communication within the team and with other relevant groups such as users to define system requirements and necessary modifications

Desired Qualifications
• Self-starter with a strategic thinking mentality
• 10+ years of web technology or software development experience
• 3+ years of manager-level experience and proven leadership ability
• 5+ years of hands on development experience working with key technologies such as PHP/Symfony/Zend/MySQL/LAMP/HTML/xHTML/CSS/JS/Java
• Excellent Unified Modeling Language architecture experience
• Experience with the full development lifecycle (application development, systems design and architecture, maintenance and support)
• Experience managing high traffic/enterprise level web applications ( e-commerce, CRM, social media, media)
• Proven track record for product delivery, ability to meet deadlines and develop project plans Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
• Solid understanding of evolving web technology trends
• Bachelors Degree, relevant advanced degree is a plus

Do you have a passion for building web applications in PHP and MySQL? Does your brain automatically append dollar signs to people's names so it can track them like variables?! If so, we have the perfect job for you.

We need someone who has experience building web sites and applications in PHP to join our team of developers working on a high-volume web site. This is a great chance to apply your skills to a big production system in a work environment that encourages new ideas and thrives on change.

We are looking for a developer who has been building professional-grade applications in PHP for about three to five years. That means experience with big codebases, lots of classes (hundreds), different and sometimes argumentative frameworks, various DB abstraction layers, and so on. Although Drupal plugins and selecting rows from a database are a nice place to start, we are way beyond that.

Ideally, you will have already fallen into many of the traps PHP newbies experience and not only pulled yourself out, but built ladders or bridges to help others. Candidates we hope to find are ones that subscribe to the DRY principle, get nervous when they see magical getters and setters, and can articulate why they'd choose a library over "rolling their own" solution or visa-versa.

Essential Qualifications:
• PHP-focused developer with recent experience in PHP (v5+) and MySQL
• Comfortable at a Unix command prompt
• Awareness of good OO design principles and how to apply them in PHP
• MVC experience or at least a strong grasp of frameworks and how they relate to good PHP applications
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Team player willing to accept and share constructive criticism
• Positive attitude with an excellent work ethic and strong attention to detail


Things we'd also like to see:
• Experience with Javascript framework integration (we use jQuery)
• Experience with code repository management (we use Subversion)
• Familiarity with work / bug tracking systems (i.e. Trac)
• Experience with complex AJAX, JSON, DOM
• Comfortable refactoring complex legacy code
• An appetite to seek and implement best practices
